Clashes in Dhaka’s New Market Leave 10 Journalists Injured, Including SA TV Staff Reporter Taifur Rahman Tuhin

Violent clashes erupted in the capital’s New Market area between local businessmen and students of Dhaka College, resulting in injuries to at least 10 journalists covering the incident. Among the injured is SA TV staff reporter Taifur Rahman Tuhin, who, along with others, was allegedly beaten severely by businessmen during the chaos.

The confrontations, which unfolded in multiple phases, stemmed from escalating tensions between the two groups, though the exact cause remains unclear. Eyewitnesses report that the situation turned volatile as businessmen and students engaged in physical altercations, creating a hostile environment for media personnel on the scene.

Journalists attempting to document the unrest faced targeted attacks, with allegations that businessmen assaulted them with little regard for their press credentials. Taifur Rahman Tuhin sustained significant injuries, and several other reporters suffered varying degrees of harm, prompting widespread condemnation from media organizations
